Patriot, the first-ever floorless roller coaster at California’s Great America, opened to guests as a new coaster experience in 2017. With the ride’s track visible beneath riders’ feet, Patriot creates unique and exciting perspectives for guests throughout the ride.
Height Requirement: Between 54” and 78”
Patriot takes riders to a 91-foot height before plummeting them into a 360-degree loop at 45 miles per hour. Patriot’s position in the park makes it a dynamic visual from three different sections of Great America, and the blue coloring brightly contrasts other area rides.
The inspiration for the coaster’s name was taken from the fact that the ride is nestled adjacent to All American Corners within a park whose name celebrates America.

The transition from the stand up Vortex coater to a floorless ride included state-of-the-art blue and white trains, which position guests with their feet dangling above the blue and white track.
With multiple inversions and tight turns, Patriot quickly became a favorite for Bay Area thrill seekers.
Rider Safety Information
- Min Height
- 54"
- Max Height
- 78"
- A high-speed, floorless looping roller coaster which turns riders upside down two times. Riders will experience weightlessness and rapid movements from side to side.
- A shoulder harness with a between-the-legs safety belt secures each rider over the head and across the chest. Due to the nature of the restraint, this ride may not accommodate guests of a larger size. A test seat is located at the ride entrance which can be used to evaluate proper fit and comfort prior to waiting in line.
- Guests must have a minimum of three functioning extremities. One functioning arm that includes a hand is required to ride. Two functioning arms are sufficient instead of three functioning extremities if the guest has a normal center of gravity and lower extremities are sufficiently strong to maintain proper riding posture under the dynamic conditions of the ride. Amputations must be at the knee or below.
- Guests with a cervical collar, neck brace, broken collar bone, full arm cast, braced arm cast, or full leg cast are not permitted to ride.
- Alternatively, guests with certain amputations may be able to ride with the use of a separate full body harness provided the guest has remaining leg and arm remnants to be secured by the harness. Guests should check with Town Hall to determine if they are eligible to ride using the full body harness. Prosthetics are not permitted on this ride.
- Alternate Access is available at the ride exit. Riders will have to take several steps on their own or with the assistance of a companion, and be capable of elevating themselves up into a suspended seat. Please do not use the restraints for support while entering and exiting as they will shift.
- A wheelchair lift is available to transport guests from the exit to the ride platform. Limit one rider in wheelchair and one companion in lift at a time.
