Orleans Comes to Life!
The Taste of Orleans festival at California's Great America, featuring Cajun and Orleans food, live music and décor, takes place July 22-23 and 29-30 in the park’s Orleans Place area and will be open to all Great America guests.
Enjoy delectable samples of crawfish etouffée, chicken and andouille sausage gumbo over rice, hushpuppy shrimp skewers with Cajun dipping sauce, crispy frog legs with creole aioli, blackened catfish sliders with tangy slaw and choice of classic beignet or praline bread pudding.
Tasting cards will be available for just $25 per person, with six selections per card.
Orleans Place will come to life with family friendly Orleans entertainment all day long. Chalk artists will paint Mardi Gras murals across the midway, and kids 12 and under will be able to decorate their own masks. Stilt walkers and a roaming Cajun band will add to the area’s atmosphere!
Unique, and authentic, food items for sale individually throughout the festival will include muffuletta pizza at Pizza Orleans and bananas Foster funnel cakes at Sweet Tooth.
The Taste of Orleans festivities all lead up to a nightly fireworks extravaganza at 9:45 p.m. in Orleans Place where a special pyrotechnic show set to Cajun music will decorate the Great America sky.
Entry to the event is free with park admission and is open to all Great America guests.
