Make Plans Now! Spring and Summer Special Events

Danny Messinger

As area manager of digital marketing, I get to tell the incredible stories of our park to the world—and take our biggest fans Between the Lines. I’ve been an incurable amusement park fanatic since I was a kid and have worked at two other parks (shout-out to Cedar Point and Valleyfair!). Now, I can’t wait to share my passion with our readers! A brand new season of fun has just kicked off at California’s Great America! Now that we’re open for the 2019 season, we wanted to share a quick rundown of all the fun events we have on the schedule for later this spring and summer. There’s a lot planned, so take a close look as we break everything down month by month from now through mid-summer.

April

Easter Eggstravaganza | April 20 and 21, 2019
Looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate Easter? Look no further! Snoopy will be hosting an Easter scavenger hunt, offering a decorate-your-own cupcake station, hosting a petting zoo, and so much more. Best of all: it’s free with admission!

Dia del Nino | April 28, 2019
Celebrate kids and Hispanic culture at Dia del Nino! We’re hosting an afternoon of festive fun focused on kids. There will be special kid-friendly food options, extra colorful decorations, limited-time souvenirs and kid-friendly games.

May

Cinco de Mayo | May 4 and 5, 2019
Great America is hosting a family-friendly party like no other. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, Hometown Square will be transformed into La Plaza--a vibrant spot to celebrate Hispanic culture. There will be folkloric dancing, mariachi performances, tacos, micheladas, and many other Latin festivities.

Memorial Day Weekend | May 25, 26 and 27, 2019
Celebrate the official start of summer and help us honor our guests who serve in the military. All active or retired military members get free admission on May 25, 26 and 27, 2019. We’ll also have fireworks on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Don’t forget: Boomerang Bay water park opens on May 25, 2019!

June

Red, White & Brews | June 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30, 2019
Our hometown celebration of Americana food and fun returns for its third season for three weekends in June. We’ll have live entertainment, dozens of taps of local brews, fresh foods, San Jose beer bike rides, and a fireworks nightcap each evening. Look for more details soon!

July

Fourth of July Celebration | July 4, 2019
Our biggest fireworks celebration of the year happens at 9:45 p.m. on July 4! We’ll also be offering current and past military members free admission on July 4, 5, 6, and 7, 2019.

Taste of Orleans | July 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28, 2019
Cajun flavors meet California thrills at Taste of Orleans, returning for its fourth year this July. For three weekends, the Orleans Place section of the park is completely transformed into a Big Easy celebration, with stilt walkers, chalk artists, live bands, authentic food and drink, and celebratory fireworks. Stay tuned for more details!

Early Ride Times | All Summer Long
With your Season Pass, you can enter Great America one hour early on Saturday mornings from May 25 - August 10. You’ll get a 60-minute head start on select rides, like Flight Deck, Carousel Columbia, RailBlazer and Gold Striker.
