Scare School Is Back in Session!
September 18, 2019Now that it’s September, school is back in session for most students—even our monsters! Did you know that in order to be a monster at Halloween Haunt you must go through Scare School first?
What is Scare School?
Scare School is a training class that teaches you how to be a monster—everything from learning different types of scares to ensuring guest safety. To become a monster at Halloween Haunt, everyone, including new and returning monsters, goes through Scare School.
What do you learn?
Scare School prepares each monster for what to expect during a typical night at Halloween Haunt. The class begins with covering the most important part of Halloween Haunt: the safety and security of all of our monsters and guests. Monsters then get prepared to learn how to scare!
What are the steps to becoming a monster?
It all begins with monsters getting fitted for costumes that they will use throughout the Haunt season. Next, they get into hair and makeup. Once this is done, they’re finally starting to feel like actual monsters! Our ghouls and goblins are given a tour of their maze and placed into designated positions; these will be their new haunted homes for the next six weeks.
How do monsters learn to scare?
As monsters are in position in the maze, training employees walk through while the monsters attempt to scare them. They learn different scaring techniques such as a jump scare, distraction scare and ping pong scare. Find out for yourself what these scares mean during Halloween Haunt.
How can you attend?
Thinking about enrolling in Great America’s Scare School? You must apply online at cagreatamerica.com/jobs first! All new and returning Halloween Haunt monsters attend Scare School before working in the haunted mazes.
Halloween Haunt begins Sept. 27 and runs select nights through Nov. 2. Get your tickets for the lowest price online now!
