Seasonal Positions

Under the direction of the Internal Audit Manager, this position performs audits on controls over Revenue, Cash Receipts, Accounting, Computer Systems, Payroll, Purchasing, Expenditures, Inventory, etc. After completing each audit, this position reports to management in written format indicating the conclusions of the audits, including the necessary recommendations for improvements to controls and procedures. Audit interns will also be heavily involved with the testing required by our national CPA firm under the Sarbanes/Oxley law.

Requirements:
This job requires a highly motivated individual who is able to work effectively both with and without supervision. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, as interaction with management on a regular basis is required. Auditors must be willing to work approximately 40 hours per week (during the summer season) with varying daily schedules. Candidates should be Accounting or Finance majors in their junior year or above, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and must have completed an accounting course prior to the internship. Successful candidates must be able to pass a background check.

Lifeguard
Minimum Age Requirement: 16
  • Monitor safety and assist guests in Boomerang Bay Waterpark.
  • Ability to complete training and meet the standards of the Ellis & Associates International Training Program, including First Aid & CPR certifications, Swim Rescue, and Spinal Injury Management.
  • California's Great America absorbs the costs involved with training and certifying lifeguards.
  • Maintain Cedar Fair's high standard of cleanliness throughout the property including but not limited to park common areas, walkways, park restrooms, associate locker rooms and restrooms.
Cash Control
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Responsible for accurate and efficient cash handling. Prepare, distribute and reconcile change funds, transport money to various park locations and perform a variety of accounting related tasks.

IT Technician
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Install, configure and upgrade desktop, laptop, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot both common and unusual hardware and software problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on PC equipment and install required software patches.
  • Ensure the connectivity of PCs, laptops and other computing devices to both the LAN and WAN.
  • Perform network and administration/maintenance with active directory and exchange.
  • Monitor network and servers.
Food Service Associate
Minimum Age Requirement: 16
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages to park guests, operate cash registers, help maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned location while providing quality service to park guests.

Food Service Warehouse Associate
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Responsible for receiving, storing, and delivery of food inventory for the Food Services division.

The California's Great America Safety and Security Department is currently seeking applicants who share an interest in the Public Safety and Emergency Services career fields. We are looking for Security Patrol Officers, Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians, and Security Dispatchers. California's Great America will provide CPR/AED and First Aid training to our non-EMT staff as well as CPR/AED recertification for our EMTs, and Defensive Tactics training for all patrol officers. California's Great America offers great experience for individuals who are interested in the Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services career fields.

Safety
Medical Responder (EMT)
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Staff the First Aid station, assisting guests and employees with basic first aid and/or basic life support care.
  • Minimum certifications of NREMT-B or MNEMSRB EMT-B required

Security
Security Access Control Officer
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Secure park property by staffing the security gates and checkpoints throughout the park.
Security Officer
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Maintain a safe environment for guests and employees and protect the assets of the company. Provide quality service for the park's guests and employees.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training and pass examinations as needed. Training will include First AID and CPR. If unable to attend company arranged training, a First Aid and CPR certification must be obtained at employees expense prior to start date.
  • Must have California Guard Card
Dispatch
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Responsible for prioritizing and organizing incoming and outgoing calls in the Security department.
  • Dispatches calls to appropriate personnel and maintains and documents call records.
  • Assists guests and employees with lost articles.
Loss Prevention Associate
Minimum Age Requirement: 18
  • Minimize losses to the company caused by employee error or misappropriation through resolution of finance problems, auditing, and surveillance, investigations and documentation.
  • Must have California Guard Card
FMC Office Assistant
Minimum Age Requirement:18

Administrative Assistant

Great America has a Seasonal opening (February - November) for an Administrative Assistant.  This position will report to the Vice President and General Manager.


JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY:

Under supervision, performs a range of routine to complex administrative duties to assist the General Manager and Division
Directors maintain efficient and effective department operations. Manages department purchasing, ensuring compliance with all
applicable policies and procedures. Performs related work as assigned. Reports to the General Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.  
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Driver's License

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Prepares packages for mailing, picks up and delivers mail as assigned to Post Office.
  • Maintains office equipment.
  • Interacts and communicates with the immediate supervisor, other Park management staff and personnel, co workers, corporate personnel, contractors, vendors, sales representatives, ride manufacturers, personnel from other Parks, and the general public.
  • Uses clerical and computer supplies.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as a computer, printer, typewriter, two way radio, fax machine, calculator, copier, telephone, etc.
  • Refers to policy and procedure manuals, computer manuals, schedules, dictionaries, directories, etc.
  • Receives and reviews invoices, ledgers, income statements, attendance records, ride downtime logs, requisitions, training documentation, etc.
  • Coordinates division meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries from Park staff, outside professionals and the public regarding department projects.
  • Answers the telephone and/or screens calls; provides accurate information to callers and/or forwards calls to appropriate staff person.   Sets up conference calls. Performs customer/public service duties as required.
  • Attends various staff / project meetings; records, types and distributes meeting minutes when requested.  
  • Assembles, composes, proofreads, types, edits, copies, files and/or mails various letters of correspondence, ride downtime reports, payroll report, attendance report, punch lists, contracts, purchase orders, work orders, personnel forms, invoices, spreadsheets, and other documents.  
  • Performs special accounting tasks as assigned.
  • Works with Finance Department to process accounts payable. Works closely with Finance Department on order discrepancy resolution between staff and vendors.
  • Assists managers in the preparation and management of the division's annual budgets; assists managers with information in preparing monthly projections and forecasts annual budget; prepares order paperwork for signatures and distributes appropriately; keeps orderly and accurate requisition information to assist division managers in tracking budgets and orders
  •  Administers/tracks division contracts when requested.
  • Oversees, expedites and processes order requisitions / purchase orders, inputs orders into JDE and assists with order routing and tracking.
  • Performs routine clerical work, including but not limited to maintaining logs and regulatory documentation, copying and filing documents, typing forms, faxing information, entering computer data, etc.
  •  Provides general administrative support to the Director and division managers, which includes but is not limited to researching and compiling data, composing routine correspondence, opening and screening mail for proper routing, maintaining schedules and calendar, establishing and maintaining division files, ordering forms and supplies, etc.
  •  Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.  
  • Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.
  •  Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
