Human Resources Director

California’s Great America has an opening in Santa Clara, California for position of Director of Human Resources.  This full time position will report to our General Manager.

Job Summary

The Director of Human Resources provide strategic leadership in all Human Resources functions of the Park, including recruitment, employment, talent development, compensation, benefit administration, employee relations, legal compliance, HRIS, and training.  Responsible for the interpretation and applciation of Human Resources policies and procedures and for identifying and implementing best practices in compliance with local, state and federal employment laws.  This position partners with management to develop and manage motivation and recognition programs. Provides support in achieving Company, park, and divisional strategic goals and initiatives and ensures that Human Resources programs, processes, and policies are aligned accordingly.  Supervises the work and development of the Human Resources staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of related experience in human resources, including a minimum of 2-3 years of directly supervising employees.
  • Detailed understanding of and ability to administer Human Resources division in compliance with Company and local, state, and federal employment laws and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership skills coupled with experience in hiring, training and development of staff.
  • Excellent verbal, written and negotiations kills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and HRIS administration.

Essential Duties and Resposibilities

  • Directs all aspects of Human Resources programs and services; provides information, serves as a resource and supports both divisional and associate needs; achieves defined objectives by planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining services in compliance with Company policies and applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  •  Develops the Human Resources Division labor and expense budget to properly fund division goals and initiatives. Manages the budget during the business year to ensure department and park financial goals are met.
  • Supervises duties of Human Resources staff to include instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work. Maintains standards; coordinates activities; allocates and develops personnel; selects new associates; acts on associate concerns; evaluates performance; and, recommends and approves promotions, transfers, discipline, discharges and pay increases.
  • Directs and oversees the development and implementation of programs and processes for recruitment, talent development, training and retention. Oversees the development and execution of the performance management and review process. Collaborates with Corporate Human Resources and peers in the organization to implement standardized policy and practices where appropriate, and to resolve system-wide challenges.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to Park’s General Manger, Division Directors and Park Management in all areas of Human Resources administration. Ensures consistency between divisions and maintains compliance with Company policy and state and federal labor laws.
  • Initiates incident investigations and applies corrective action, as appropriate. Consults with senior management and corporate as needed.
  • Manages, conducts and responds to investigations of associate complaints of harassment, discrimination or unfair treatment. Ensures that all associate complaints are documented and resolved appropriately.
  • Manages requests for associate leaves of absence to ensure compliance with Company leave policies and state and federal leave laws. Manages requests for reasonable accommodations related to physical or mental disabilities and religious beliefs and practices.
  • Oversees associate uniform program to include purchasing, issuing, and monitoring inventory levels. Ensures that financial data is recorded and reported at required intervals per the park’s finance department.
  • Oversees all aspects of employment housing to ensure a safe and quality living environment for associates. Works across park departments (and in conjunction with the owners of any leased properties) to ensure maintenance or security concerns are addressed in a timely manner. Develops and implements policies and procedures for housing and ensures policies are adhered to by residents. Monitors and reports the receipt and payment of rental fees and security deposits in compliance with Company policy.

Job Summary

Manager of Accounting

California's Great America has an opening in its Finance Division for Manager of Accounting. This position will report to the Director of Finance.

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY:
Performs weekly/monthly close including preparing journal entries, reconciling all Bank accounts, BS accounts and updating schedules. Uploads budget weekly/monthly. Performs Tax Reporting: Tax Returns, Sales Tax Payments, Business Tax, Tourism Tax. Assists Director with annual budget. Prepares audit schedules for YE. Ensures prepaid & amortization schedules are maintained accurately. Supervises Accounting functions.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree (4 year College or University)
  • 2 - 4 Years Related Experience Accounting / Finance
  • Previous experience supervising team helpful

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for oversight and proper controls over Year-end inventory process. Works with Merchandise team to establish  timing and audits ensuring accurate inventory and cost of sales adjustment.
  • Assists Director of Finance with Company wide Budgeting process. Prepares Quarter-end Year-end schedules as requested by Corporate
  • Assists with preparing tax schedules such as tax returns and tax payments, business tax and tourism tax. Answers questions from Internal Auditors and External Auditors. Prepares YE Audit Schedules as requested by Director, Corporate and Auditors.
  • Supervises staff accountant; specialist, accounts payable; and specialist payroll/accounts receivable.
  • Ensures financial statements are prepared timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepares weekly/monthly Journal Entries.
  • Works closely with other accounting staff and corporate to ensure payments and accruals amounts are accurate in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of all bank accounts.
  • Responsible for updating schedules for deferred revenue, royalties, prepaids, accruals, worker's comp, and public liability insurance.
  • Generates general ledger detail reports for the directors.
  • Updates weekly/month actual numbers to budget system.

Games Area Manager

Great America has an opening in its Games Division for Games Area Manager. This position will report to the Director, Merchandise and Games.

 

Job Functions Summary:

Under occasional supervision, oversees the daily management of the Games department operations, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction and guest and employee safety.  Oversees the daily operations of the Games warehouse.  Maintains and controls the inventory levels of games products.  Supervises and reviews seasonal management and line level staff.  Performs other duties as needed.

Ride Mechanic

Reports to: Ride Mechanic Foreperson
Status: Fulltime Exempt

Under occasional supervision, inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned. Performs related duties as required. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned.
  • Lubricates rides and equipment.
  • Designs and fabricates parts; rebuilds components.
  • Cleans mechanical parts as needed.
  • Responds to work orders and trouble calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date maintenance records; prepares maintenance reports as required.
  • Reviews technical documents, blueprints, schematics, catalogs, etc., as needed to support ride maintenance, repair and rehabilitation work.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • Requires a vocational diploma in mechanical / industrial maintenance supplemented by three to five years of experience in mechanical maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires forklift and man lift certifications.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid California Driver's License

Foreperson - Automotive

California’s Great America has an opening in Santa Clara, California for the position of Foreperson – Automotive. This full time position will report to the Manager of Ride Maintenance.

Job Summary:
Under occasional supervision, supervises and performs the monitoring, maintenance and repair of Park vehicles, heavy equipment and selected rides as assigned. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • 5 - 7 Years Related Experience in Automotive/Ride Department

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Performs and leads mechanical crew in the monitoring, maintenance and repair of vehicles, heavy equipment and select rides as assigned
  • Diagnoses mechanical, electrical and computer-related problems with fleet vehicles and select rides; assists mechanics with difficult repair work as necessary.
  • Welds, modifies and fabricates parts as necessary.

  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other Park supervisors and staff, subordinates, guests, vendors, inspectors, etc.

  • Maintains and repairs ride machinery, track structures, and other metal features of the Park, including sign posts, fences and railings, coaster trains, production equipment, etc.
  • Assists with the analysis of part / equipment failures. Helps determine proper repair methods.
  • Inspects rides, tracks, ride foundations, and other steel structures for safety and maintenance needs.
  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
