MANAGER OF ACCOUNTING

Cedar Fair, a leader in the amusement park industry, has an opening at Great America in Santa Clara for the position of Manager of Accounting.

This full-time senior level position will report to the Director of Finance.


Job Functions Summary
The Manager of Accounting is responsible for performing the weekly/monthly close including preparing journal entries, reconciling all Bank accounts, BS accounts and updating schedules. Uploads budget weekly/monthly. Performs Tax Reporting: Tax Returns, Sales Tax Payments, Business Tax, and Tourism Tax. Assists Director with annual budget. Prepares audit schedules for Year-end. Ensures prepaid & amortization schedules are maintained accurately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures financial statements are prepared timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP. Prepares weekly/monthly Journal Entries. Works closely with other accounting staff and corporate to ensure payments and accrual amounts are accurate in accordance with GAAP and company policy. Responsible for Reconciliation of all bank accounts.
  • Responsible for updating schedules for Deferred Revenue, Royalties, Prepaids, Accruals, Worker Comp, and Public Liability insurance. Generates General Ledger Detail Reports for the Directors. Updates weekly/month actual numbers to budget system.
  • Supervises Area Manager, Revenue Accounting; Area Manager, Accounts Payable; and Area Manager Payroll/Accounts Receivable. Assists with preparing tax schedules such as tax returns and tax payments, business tax and tourism tax. Answers questions from Internal Auditors and External Auditors. Prepares Year-end Audit Schedules as requested by Director, Corporate and Auditors.
  • Assists Director of Finance with Companywide Budgeting process. Prepares Quarter-end Year-end schedules as requested by Corporate. Responsible for oversight and proper controls over Year-end inventory process. Works with Merchandise team to establish timing and audits ensuring accurate inventory and cost of sales adjustment.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other relative degree; Master’s degree in Accounting preferred. CPA preferred.
  • 4+ years of relative accounting experience within the private sector. Experience in amusement parks, retail or hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong PC skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Internal Controls and Sarbanes Oxley control requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability to work comfortably with technology, including accounting and reporting systems.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical, organizational and communication skills. Demonstrates leadership ability in project management skills, as well as daily operations.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of GAAP, Financial Reporting, financial applications and the ability to train management to access and utilize this information.
  • Demonstrates ability to highlight issues or problems and convey complex thoughts, written and oral, in a clear, concise, timely manner to all levels of management.

Title: Ride Mechanic

Reports to: Ride Mechanic Foreperson

Status: Fulltime Exempt



Under occasional supervision, inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned. Performs related duties as required. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned.
  • Lubricates rides and equipment.
  • Designs and fabricates parts; rebuilds components.
  • Cleans mechanical parts as needed.
  • Responds to work orders and trouble calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date maintenance records; prepares maintenance reports as required.
  • Reviews technical documents, blueprints, schematics, catalogs, etc., as needed to support ride maintenance, repair and rehabilitation work.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Requires a vocational diploma in mechanical / industrial maintenance supplemented by three to five years of experience in mechanical maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires forklift and man lift certifications.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid California Driver's License

Ticket Systems Administrator

Great America has an opening in its Finance Division for Ticket Systems Administrator This position will report to the Manager of Accounting.


JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the development and accuracy of all customer facing ticketing products. Leads the set up, maintenance and training for all Gate Central, ATS, Web Manager and Acceso ticketing products for California’s Great America.

This position is the go to person for any gate central inquires for all park departments and leads Ticketing Core Team meetings.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
• PC Knowledge. (Delphi/ATS/Excel) Typing 55wpm with accuracy. Excellent organizational skills.
• Solid clerical/previous Customer Service.
• Strong verbal, written communication and customer service skills.
• Experience with POS and e commerce ticketing systems.
• Strong Computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for the development and accuracy of all ticketing products for California’s Great America. This includes all POS, AdvanceTicketing and web sales via Accesso. Set up includes creation of calendars, validity templates and product profiles to ensure products scan properly. As well as creating copy for all Hard Tickets, eTickets, confirmation letters, receipt tickets and formatting and editing contacts.
• Position is called on to trouble shoot customer facing problems and making decisions on pricing and validity of tickets when time sensitive guest and customer issues arise.
• Responsible for setting up Gate Central product ID and send the information to the requester department for them to setup ATS orders.
• Responsible for the ticketing pricing accuracy and communication across departments.
• Responsibility includes training staff on Gate Central, ATS, Web Manager and Accesso Systems. Training includes report creation and training on proper input needed for product development.
• Leads Ticketing Task Force which is responsible for organizing and communicating all cross departmental efforts in support of all live and in development ticketing products. This position is also responsible for the implementation and communication of all ticketing price changes to guest relations and other park departments.
• Review DORS Ticket Types to verify if a product can be re-used from previous seasons, or copied from a similar product and which product ID not to use.
• Create and a mange process for all product development needs including auditing paperwork for all ticketing and pricing. Position supports product development needs for Marketing, Sales, Foods and Merchandise.
• Provide guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.

  • Receives and responds to inquiries from Park staff, outside professionals and the public regarding department projects.
  • Answers the telephone and/or screens calls; provides accurate information to callers and/or forwards calls to appropriate staff person.   Sets up conference calls. Performs customer/public service duties as required.
  • Attends various staff / project meetings; records, types and distributes meeting minutes when requested.  
  • Assembles, composes, proofreads, types, edits, copies, files and/or mails various letters of correspondence, ride downtime reports, payroll report, attendance report, punch lists, contracts, purchase orders, work orders, personnel forms, invoices, spreadsheets, and other documents.  
  • Performs special accounting tasks as assigned.
  • Works with Finance Department to process accounts payable. Works closely with Finance Department on order discrepancy resolution between staff and vendors.
  • Assists managers in the preparation and management of the division's annual budgets; assists managers with information in preparing monthly projections and forecasts annual budget; prepares order paperwork for signatures and distributes appropriately; keeps orderly and accurate requisition information to assist division managers in tracking budgets and orders
  •  Administers/tracks division contracts when requested.
  • Oversees, expedites and processes order requisitions / purchase orders, inputs orders into JDE and assists with order routing and tracking.
  • Performs routine clerical work, including but not limited to maintaining logs and regulatory documentation, copying and filing documents, typing forms, faxing information, entering computer data, etc.
  •  Provides general administrative support to the Director and division managers, which includes but is not limited to researching and compiling data, composing routine correspondence, opening and screening mail for proper routing, maintaining schedules and calendar, establishing and maintaining division files, ordering forms and supplies, etc.
  •  Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.  
  • Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.
  •  Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.  
  • Other duties may be assigned.
