Ride Mechanic

Reports to: Ride Mechanic Foreperson
Status: Fulltime Exempt

Under occasional supervision, inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned. Performs related duties as required. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned.
  • Lubricates rides and equipment.
  • Designs and fabricates parts; rebuilds components.
  • Cleans mechanical parts as needed.
  • Responds to work orders and trouble calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date maintenance records; prepares maintenance reports as required.
  • Reviews technical documents, blueprints, schematics, catalogs, etc., as needed to support ride maintenance, repair and rehabilitation work.
  • Works with other departments on repairs and maintenance projects as appropriate.
  • Offers training and assistance to co-workers as necessary.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of all maintenance problems or areas of concern.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of supplies, parts and materials.
  • Maintains assigned equipment in a safe and proper working condition; maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Performs all work in accordance with department policies and procedures, regulations, plans and specifications, and standards of quality and safety.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints from employees and guests regarding ride safety and maintenance.

Additional Job Functions

  • Operates rides as necessary.
  • May perform minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical work as required.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • Requires a vocational diploma in mechanical / industrial maintenance supplemented by three to five years of experience in mechanical maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires forklift and man lift certifications.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid California Driver's License

Manager of Accounting

California's Great America has an opening in its Finance Division for Manager of Accounting. This position will report to the Director of Finance.

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY:
Performs weekly/monthly close including preparing journal entries, reconciling all Bank accounts, BS accounts and updating schedules. Uploads budget weekly/monthly. Performs Tax Reporting: Tax Returns, Sales Tax Payments, Business Tax, Tourism Tax. Assists Director with annual budget. Prepares audit schedules for YE. Ensures prepaid & amortization schedules are maintained accurately. Supervises Accounting functions.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree (4 year College or University)
  • 2 - 4 Years Related Experience Accounting / Finance
  • Previous experience supervising team helpful
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Word, and ERP systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for oversight and proper controls over Year-end inventory process. Works with Merchandise team to establish  timing and audits ensuring accurate inventory and cost of sales adjustment.
  • Assists Director of Finance with Company wide Budgeting process. Prepares Quarter-end Year-end schedules as requested by Corporate
  • Assists with preparing tax schedules such as tax returns and tax payments, business tax and tourism tax. Answers questions from Internal Auditors and External Auditors. Prepares YE Audit Schedules as requested by Director, Corporate and Auditors.
  • Supervises staff accountant; specialist, accounts payable; and specialist payroll/accounts receivable.
  • Ensures financial statements are prepared timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepares weekly/monthly Journal Entries.
  • Works closely with other accounting staff and corporate to ensure payments and accruals amounts are accurate in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of all bank accounts.
  • Responsible for updating schedules for deferred revenue, royalties, prepaids, accruals, worker's comp, and public liability insurance.
  • Generates general ledger detail reports for the directors.
  • Updates weekly/month actual numbers to budget system.

Foreperson - Automotive

California’s Great America has an opening in Santa Clara, California for the position of Foreperson – Automotive. This full time position will report to the Manager of Ride Maintenance.

Job Summary:
Under occasional supervision, supervises and performs the monitoring, maintenance and repair of Park vehicles, heavy equipment and selected rides as assigned. Performs related duties as required.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Performs and leads mechanical crew in the monitoring, maintenance and repair of vehicles, heavy equipment and select rides as assigned
  • Diagnoses mechanical, electrical and computer-related problems with fleet vehicles and select rides; assists mechanics with difficult repair work as necessary.
  • Welds, modifies and fabricates parts as necessary.
  • Supervises subordinate mechanics; supervisory duties include scheduling; instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; selecting new employees; acting on employee problems, and recommending employee transfers, promotions, discipline and discharge.

Entertainment Area Manager

California’s Great America has an opening in Santa Clara, California for the position of Entertainment Area Manager. This full time position will report to the Manager of Entertainment.

Job Function Summary

The Area Manager of Entertainment is responsible for the execution of all aspects of the Entertainment division to include developing, coordinating, managing, and marketing all operations of Entertainment, Halloween Haunt, Winterfest, special events, shows, and concerts.  The Entertainment Area Manager will work closely with the Entertainment Manager to create, execute, and manage show and attraction product from concept to operation to strike.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liason between the Entertainment department and sub‑contracted production staff members to ensure show plans are executed properly and efficiently.

  • Coordinates the installation of new show product, attractions and multiple large scale events (including Halloween Haunt, Winterfest, concerts, Taste of Orleans, Red White and Brews, etc.) with multiple departments with California's Great America as well as outside vendors.
  • Coordinates entertainment auditions, interviews, hiring and onboarding.  Supervises duties of subordinate seasonal staff, including instructing, assigning, planning and reviewing work for accuracy and completeness, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, training, department scheduling, recommending and approving employee promotions, transfers, discipline and discharge.
  • Manages approximately 15‑20 shows per year, 20‑25 attractions, Mascot Character department, performers, and multiple special events.  Oversees Live Entertainment supervisors, performers, attendants and technicians including the technician shop, production shop, wardrobe shop, and makeup shop.
  • Controls, organizes and executes operating plans for Live Entertainment, Halloween Haunt, Winterfest and other special events.  Monitors and takes action to ensure operation remains within budget guidelines set by the Entertainment Manager.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
