Which Rides Are Open During WinterFest in 2019?

Danny Messinger

As area manager of digital marketing, I get to tell the incredible stories of our park to the world—and take our biggest fans Between the Lines. I’ve been an incurable amusement park fanatic since I was a kid and have worked at two other parks (shout-out to Cedar Point and Valleyfair!). Now, I can’t wait to share my passion with our readers! WinterFest at California’s Great America delivers a holiday attraction unlike anywhere else in the Bay Area. The entire park has been touched by holiday spirit, with millions and millions of sparkling lights, totally transformed live entertainment, and special sweet and savory food and beverage offerings. The only “normal” thing that guests can count on is riding countless rides!

7 Roller Coasters Open during WinterFest

During WinterFest, seven incredible roller coasters are open each and every night. Thrill seekers can buckle up for a ride on the West Coast’s first and only single-rail roller coaster, RailBlazer, or challenge the thrills of Gold Striker, Patriot and Flight Deck. Families will love riding Lucy’s Crabbie Cabbies (which turned 20 this year!), Psycho Mouse and Woodstock Express.

Endless Fun on Family Rides

All of your family’s favorite rides, like Carousel Columbia and Star Tower, return for WinterFest. Does your crew love spinning around and around in the glow of holiday lights? Don’t miss a ride on Celebration Swings, Centrifuge or Brrserker!

Just for WinterFest, the ever-popular Barney Oldfield Speedway antique cars ride takes an amazing seasonal twist and becomes Twelve Days of Christmas. Drivers at Twelve Days of Christmas will wind their way through fanciful light displays depicting all 12 scenes of the beloved carol.

New for 2019: Great America’s aerial gondola ride, Delta Flyer and Eagle’s Flight, will be open during WinterFest, providing breathtaking views of the park’s extravagant light displays.

Kids’ Rides at WinterFest

More than a dozen kids’ rides will be open during WinterFest. Just for the season, the PEANUTS gang has decorated Planet Snoopy with oversized Christmas lights, and they’re all ready to meet your entire family in Charlie Brown’s Christmas Town! Sally’s Swing Set, PEANUTS Pirates, and Kite Eating Tree are just a few of the kids’ rides open for WinterFest.

Best Price on WinterFest Tickets

Any seasoned South Bay resident knows that the holiday season can be full of uniquely Bay Area ups and downs. One minute it’s sunny and warm, and the next it’s foggy and freezing. On Friday, you can be stuck in traffic on your way to your tech startup side hustle and on Saturday, you can be swooping down the slopes in the Sierras. And at Great America’s WinterFest, one moment you’re on the ground eating a candy cane funnel cake; the next, you’re 100 feet in the air about to take a wild ride back to terra firma!

This holiday season, visit WinterFest to enjoy dozens of rides, from mild to wild. For the best deal on tickets, check our online ticket store, or get a 2020 Gold Season Pass for unlimited visits in 2020 and the rest of 2019!
