The Holiday Transformation of St. Nick's Pics

The transformation of the park for WinterFest begins long before November. In the months leading up to WinterFest, what is known as the Season Pass Processing Center during the summer is completely renovated and turned into St. Nick’s Pics.

The Season Pass Processing Center is normally where guests go for any Season Pass inquiries they may have. Once the summer season comes to an end and we move into the season of Halloween Haunt, the processing center is closed in preparation for its transformation into St. Nick’s Pics.

Beginning in October, everything in the processing center is moved out and stored backstage. The moving process is short and only takes a day to complete. Once everything is moved out, our team is able to lay down a new floor over the top of the original flooring. This is done to protect the floor underneath and to allow our team to paint inside of the building without damaging the existing floor. Decorative fabric is then hung from the walls with wire and rope to cover all of the Season Pass signs on the wall and create a festive space for Mr. Claus!

Now that the base of the inside is complete for St. Nick’s Pics, the facades and decorations can be added to the inside. There are three facades, which are actually from one of the previous mazes at Knott’s Scary Farm and have been renovated into elf houses. The rest of the decorations, such as garland, ribbons and fabric, are all prepared and made in-house.

This whole process takes about two weeks, and then it’s all ready for Santa to move in! St. Nick’s Pics is open all through WinterFest, now through Dec. 31, for pictures with Santa!
