GREAT AMERICA & COASTING FOR KIDS TO RAISE $10,000
Marathon Coasting Session June 9 Assists Kids With Life Threatening Illnesses
19 Local Riders Will Participate To Make Special Wishes Come True
Santa Clara, CA - On Sunday, June 9, 2013, California’s Great America is partnering with Give Kids The World to host the 5th Annual Coasting For Kids fundraiser, which makes a difference in the lives of children with life threatening illnesses. Nineteen riders will spend from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday (with a 1 hour lunch) on Great America’s Flight Deck and Vortex coasters to raise more than $10,000.
In addition to providing a marathon riding experience on Flight Deck and Vortex, Great America will open Gold Striker early to all participants. A $25 registration fee plus a minimum $75 donation is required to participate. During a scheduled lunch break, the first, second and third place fundraisers will be awarded prizes.
“Coasting for Kids is a unique fundraiser that provides emotional relief to children facing difficult medical situations,” California’s Great America General Manager and Vice President Raul Rehnborg said. “Members of the roller coasting community donate their time and energy to benefit these kids and we’re happy to contribute to such a terrific cause.”
In total, more than 122,000 families have visited the Give Kids The World Village in Florida and funds raised through Coasting for Kids help keep the retreat cost-free to visitors. All of Cedar Fair’s 10 amusement parks will participate in Coasting For Kids with nearly 1,000 riders registered. In 2012, Cedar Fair participants raised more than $114,000.
